Nature's Earth Whole Rye Bread is made from whole grain rye, retaining all of its essential nutrients like fiber, protein, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It's definitely a healthier food than the other rye breads you're used to seeing in the grocery store.
To make Natureland Rye Bread, we grind whole rye grains into a coarse flour that retains all of its natural goodness, because only whole grains can help us stay healthy and well. We do something better than others: Unlike other rye breads, our product is fermented in a sourdough form during the kneading and mixing process. Scientifically, fermentation releases vital nutrients and makes them more bioavailable to the body (meaning they are much more healthy than before fermentation), and causes much less inflammation in the gut for people with wheat or gluten sensitivity.
We only select ryes that are heirlooms rather than hybrids, and that have been bred over generations (if not millennia) for their flavor and nutritional value, rather than for commercial profitability: fast growth, easy shipping, and long shelf life. To minimize our environmental impact, our grains are grown and sourced locally (never shipped long distances to our facilities), and we only support small farmers and producers who focus on sustainable, soil-friendly crops. They are also certified organic: meaning they are free of pesticides, herbicides, and other chemical residues—all you’ll find is pure health, flavor, and purity in every bite.
